4

Welcome All-Stars to your fourth task of the season. I'm bringing back a revolutionary task that has stood the test of time. Below are 3 music video prompts; pick 1 of the following and use it to inspire a conceptual and original design.

This week the stakes are higher as 3 people will be chosen to be in the Top 3 and the Bottom 3. The ultimate winner of this week will decide which designer they are going to SAVE. Sending the other 2 bottom designers home. Good luck!

You really rushed to push this out of your wardrobe this week; it showed. This is uninspiring and not tasteful in the slightest. The use of too many accessories cluttered the design and detracts from any redeeming aspect I could have found. At face value this does not hold up as an all-star design. I wish you experimented more and took inspiration from a less obvious approach.

Clever placement of accessories this week. You really created a full look. You have impressed me with your continuous evolution and the way in which you break out of your box. The scarf combined with the tattoo is glorious; especially with the black edge surrounding the top half of the design. This is intricate, well done.

The sheen of the shorts was such a smart play on the video. The mesmerizing tone of the video was structured on that aspect and you definitely used that to your advantage. The palette is constructed well. I enjoy the detailing in the chest; some of it may seem a bit extravagant for this design. If you had brought it down a notch and produced a more sleek design to match the rest of the aesthetic; this could have been a top look.

You climbed your way back to the top this week. I love the linear additions to the design and how well they mend. The colours are refreshing and responsive. The correlation to this design and the video you chose are simultaneous. Overall I think you did an exceptional job with this design and relating it back to the task. Thanks.

I feel as though I've seen this design from you before. The shape is structured and undeveloped. I wish you experimented with more layouts. The pattern centralized in the bodice was interesting; I knew which video you were going for instantly. I really adore the shoe; definitely the best decision you made this week. Overall not your strongest but a safe design.

The colour scheme wasn't as specific to the video in my opinion. However I really love the minimalistic approach to the task. The placement of certain accessories is clever and something I've not witnessed often. This was a toned down design that held a lot of prowess. I really enjoy it. Thanks.

The use of this palette was inspiring to me. You chose the most influential moment in the video to me and portrayed it beautifully in this design. The intricate pattern and layout of fabrics was great to see. My favourite aspect of this design would be the black coat. It really looks like it's hugging your design. I think this is a remarkable uprising.

Vyia

The colours are so vivid and encapsulating; however I find this design to be overbearing. The texturized fabrics layered like that are off-putting and correlate in no way to the video in my opinion. I wish you kept a clean design that still showcased this palette. Overall not a complete disaster; just the bar has been raised and you were unable to jump over it this week. Thanks.

24 HOURS TO RESUBMIT

I'm going to have the 3 top designer this week design an outfit that relates to the video below. Good luck!

The Lemon twigs - as long as we're together

VYIA

I feel this has been as hard of a decision this week for me as it has been for you. These designs are not what I was expecting; they didn't capture the essence of the videos entirety. I'm going to award the win this week to the designer I feel took the most inspiration. Though I feel the design is insufficient in terms of structure; it stands out in terms of palette. Congratulations ISSUS. This is your THIRD win this season; an exceptional feat that has not gone unnoticed.  As a reward for your efforts you were granted the privilege of saving either VYIA, SNAWL or SOFTERWORLD.

The designer that you have decided to SAVE is . . .

"This is the hardest decision that I have made in the competition so far. None of the three of us wanted to win this task, but seeing as I did... I love all of you equally, but the person I'm saving, purely because of track record this season so far is.... Vyia."

No one said this was going to be easy; just because you were eliminated doesn't mean you didn't deserve to be here. This twist changed the game in every way possible. I want the 2 of you to know that you're incredible creators and I'm happy you agreed to show us what you're made of in this All-Star season.  You are and will always be All-Stars.

Music?

After the last attempts at backwards designs during this task from CorpeTerm; you would have thought people would learn their lesson. This looks like a 2.0 design that you plucked off the rack. This has one redeeming quality and that would be the pattern in the skirt. Otherwise this is far too generic to hold up as a safe look this week; nevermind top. Thanks.

Snawl

The design is humble this week. You used a minimalistic approach to the majority of the design to showcase the sequence in the bodice. This comes across as an interesting design. That being said; had you not told me which video this was for. I would have been lost. I see the relation now; I just wish you made it a bit more obvious. You were overthinking it this week. Not a bad design; I find it just gets lost in translation.

You slaughtered the competition this week with this design. You definitely saved the best for last. This is so aesthetically pleasing and on brand with the video you chose. The cascading effect of cuts and jags are ambitious and worked in your favour. I see the relation to the lasers from the video and the overall tone. Flawless.

That brings the first part of WEEK 4 to a conclusion. The top 3 this week are BARBUDA, XENID and ISSUS. They will face-off and re-do the task using a new approach to see who will claim the top spot of the week. The winner will save either SNAWL, VYIA or SOFTERWORLD. Sending 2 designers home. Once again; you create your own path in this game and seal your fate. This isn't the end for the bottom 3; you better fight for that spot. Good luck!
